Open Positions

Postdoctoral Researcher

Postdoctoral Scholar positions in MRI research are available in the Department of Radiology-Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

The successful applicants will participate on projects that include, but are not limited to:

(1) Rapid high spatiotemporal resolution MR angiography with advanced image acquisition and image reconstruction
(2) New MRI techniques for the assessment of intracranial hemodynamics and mechanical features of vessel wall
(3) Advanced arterial spin labeling (ASL) development
(4) AI in image reconstruction

Qualifications: PhD in bioengineering, physics, electrical engineering, or related disciplines within the past 5 years. Proficiency in programming, such as C++, Matlab, and Python. Prior research experience in MR physics, pulse sequence design, and/or image reconstruction algorithms. (Pulse sequence programming on the Siemens platform will be a plus). High self-motivation and excellent communication and writing skills.

Research Environment: Northwestern University offers a multidisciplinary research environment. This position will provide a valuable opportunity to work and collaborate with a multidisciplinary MRI research group including MR physicists, engineers, radiologists, physician-scientists, neurosurgeons, and neurologists. The Center for Translational Imaging (CTI) as the imaging core facility at the Radiology department of Northwestern University houses five research-dedicated MR systems, including two Siemens Prisma 3T equipped with 20/32/64 channel head coils, two Siemens 1.5T, and one pre-clinical 7T. There are >15 clinical MR scanners as well as a PET-MRI and 2 PET-CT systems located within Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Additionally, there is a longstanding research collaboration with Siemens MR R&D, providing strong support for the MRI technical development and clinical translations. The successful candidates will get training and participate in MRI pulse sequence programming, image reconstruction, and image processing in cerebrovascular imaging.

To apply: Please email your current curriculum vitae, a brief statement of research experience and interests, and
a list of three references with contact information to Dr. Lirong Yan, lirong.yan@northwestern.edu.
